The Truth Could Not Sleep

It hovered, unsuspended yet visible,
Not bound by wall, not tied to place.
Its face shone in the air,
Demanding witness.

No hand moved in haste,
Yet time spoke in certainty.
Heaven refused to conceal it,
As though the truth could not sleep.

I watched, unsettled,
As each number glimmered,
A code unspoken,
A summons to attention.

The clock did not plead.
It revealed, quietly,
And left me with the weight
Of what must be noticed.

Some things are too urgent
To hide, even from the eye.
Some time is sacred,
Even before we touch it.
