Three poems from the Paths of the Soul series, exploring journeys, stillness, and the nature of faith.
You Are Not Lost — You Are On the Way
The Road That Appeared After the Prayer
I knelt where the ground was worn thin
by others who had waited there.
No path lay before me,
only dust and the memory of asking.
When I rose, the earth had shifted—
not loudly, not all at once.
A narrow line caught the light,
as if it had always known my name.
I stepped, and the ground held.
Behind me, the place of asking faded.
Ahead, the road kept quiet,
as roads do when they mean to be followed.

Ordered Stillness
A Prayer Said Before the Day Began
I spoke no requests.
Only presence.
The day waited politely.
So did I.
In that small pause,
nothing was decided,
yet everything felt aligned
enough to begin.

Faith Under Examination
Why Knowing Is Not the Same as Believing
I knew the words,
had traced their meanings to their roots,
could explain belief
as one explains a structure,
sound in theory,
complete on paper.
Yet belief did not rise on command.
Knowledge stood assembled,
waiting for something it could not summon.
I learned then:
knowing prepares the ground,
but belief arrives on its own terms,
uninvited, unprovable,
and unwilling to be rushed.
